~Thrifty Thursdays: Weddings on a Budget~

Happy Thursday Y'all! We wanted to do a segment here on the blog called "Thrifty Thursdays," that illustrates you do not have to spend TONS of money to get the wedding of your dreams!  In fact, if you're willing to put some elbow grease into some DIY projects, you will save loads of money!

As I have said before, here at Ticket Booth No.92, our daily inspiration comes from our brides.  Recently we had a bride contact us about a custom clutch to incorporate into her rustic wedding and the colors were red & grey.  Here are some various designs we came up with….
When we get a custom request from a bride, my mom and I pull together our various fabrics that we think best represent the themes/colors/styles that the bride described to us! (Actually, that is one of our favorite things--when brides describe their weddings and send us pictures of things they already have for their weddings, or even links to their dresses! We get a sneak peek of something so special, that not many people have seen!)

So this color scheme is now one of my new FAVS! I wanted to showcase this rustic red/gray combo for my post about being thrifty! First up, let's talk about clothing for the groom/groomsmen…here was my inspiration photo and my bargain find….
…who can beat $19.99?!? You can't! This will make your pocketbook and your groomsmen's wallets feel a lot better! (c:

Now that your groom looks sharp, what about the rest of your decor? In the many wedding blogs I frequent, I see tons of "Chalkboard" features that are used in a variety of ways---to showcase the menu, label the dessert bars/cake areas,  highlight the order of events, or even for some fun props in the photo booth.  Such an EASY DIY PROJECT --purchase the mirror/frame, spray paint the outer frame any shade you want, and then just add a base coat & two layers of chalk board paint to the main part! Your own "Chalkboard" feature for about $35.00! (Even less if you use Hobby Lobby's awesome, weekly coupon of 40% off, just go their website and print one!)
Some of the most expensive aspects of weddings are the flowers! You can create the most darling bouquets for you and your bridesmaids! Just grab some fresh flowers one to two days before the wedding, some burlap and twine (SUPER cheap at any craft or hardware store), and wrap away! Just store them in a vase in the fridge until the big day!

Here are some other ways to incorporate high style, with a smaller price tag!

1.How beautiful is this skirt? This skirt is only $145.00 at Tutus Chic Boutique on Etsy. It's definitely a cheaper route for a wedding dress, add a ruffled top like in this picture, and you have created a wedding day outfit that is perfectly and uniquely you.

2. Tap into your friends' fantastic talents! Do you have a friend that bakes the best desserts? Ask them if they would help you bake the cakes for your wedding--it's a great route because you pay for the supplies and their wedding gift to you can be some scrumptious treats for your guests.

3. This darling heart garland is cheap and easy to replicate. Go to your local craft store, get some card stock and decorative paper to match your scheme, and gather your girlfriends or bridesmaids! (Then just cut the paper into strips, shape them into hearts, staple, and string together!) Why not have a bridal craft party in lieu of a typical bachelorette party?! The craft party sounds more fun to me anyway and it would take away any overwhelming stress of crafting on your own!
 4.  Bring your own wedding props! This can add instant impact to bridal portraits and wedding photos.  This one in this picture doesn't get any more simple--Just paint any phrase/words significant to you both ("just married," song lyrics, etc.) on a piece of wood from your local home improvement store!

5. Photobooths don't have to be expensive! Grab some fabric from your local craft store and create a backdrop from it, then set up your own camera on a tripod or even just set a laptop with a webcam there for the guests to take their pictures in front of!

6. This one goes back to tapping into the talents of your friends! Do you have a friend that always seems to take great pictures or has a photography hobby? It's a great way to get photos for free and get an artistic take on the traditional wedding photos.

I hope these thrifty ideas help you with some aspects of your wedding and your budget!

XOXOXO
Heather
